Arts Council Exhibition and Opening Reception at the Gato –
Opening Reception: Friday, February 5th at 5:00 pm.

Florida Keys Council of the Arts announces its open season exhibit hosted in the Historic Gato building. Join the artists for an opening reception this Friday, February 5th from 5 – 7 pm. Co-Curators, Board member Susann D’Antonio and Arts Council staff member, Reen Stanhouse chose the theme, Fauna, Fiber & Fruits, to offer local artists the opportunity to contribute original work to the exhibit sharing their passions for the island’s natural surroundings and vibrant colors. Sue D’Antonio shares, “we are proud of this new show in the Gato with its beautiful light beaming through the windows; the artwork is particularly bright and joyful this time.”

Artists in the exhibit include: Karen Beauprie, Nicholas Bergery, Laura Black, Mary Blackman,Joyce Carpenter, Susann D’Antonio, Fran Decker, Ineke deRaad, Natalie Dorf, Beti Duke, Jane Gilbert, Annamarie Giordano, Ganine Giorgione Derleth, Jane Grannis, Karen Greenfield, CJ Groth, Beryn Harty, Joanne Jarzombek, Renee Lanier, Paula Leftwich, Wayne Lind, M.Ann Lynch, Yolanda Maloney, Sandy Mezinis, Gail P. Miller, Liz Montgomery, Susan O’Neill, Jodell Roberts, Kathy Sage, Jackie Sanchez, Cris Sandifer, Lynn Sherman, Bob Slitzan, Janis Jo Stevens, Joyce Straiton, Sandy Sun, Gale Upmal, Dawn Wilkins and Jaynie Zenisek.

The Gato building, which is home to many State and County offices, supports the Art in Public Buildings program which offers an alternate space for artists to display their work.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts supports visual, literary and performing artists and cultural organizations throughout the Keys with several grant programs and scholarships. We connect artists to each other and to their audiences.
