The Children’s School will host its annual 5K run/walk/stroll on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, beginning at 8 a.m. at Higgs Beach/Salute! All proceeds from the race will benefit the school’s scholarship fund, which assists local families with tuition at the island’s original Montessori school, serving children ages 18 months through third grade.

The scenic, measured 5K course will run along the Atlantic Ocean. A half mile and one mile kids “Fun Run” will follow at 9 a.m. The first 200 to register (includes Fun Run) will receive a specially-designed puzzle piece finisher’s medal and t-shirt. Awards will be given to top overall and masters male and female 5K runners, as well as top two male and female in each 10-year age group. There will also be awards to the top finishers in the Walker and Stroller divisions.

Registration is $30 for adults, $20 for 18 and under, and $15 for the Fun Run. Pre-registration is available at themeruns.com or on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 3-5 p.m. in the Salute! parking lot, 1000 Atlantic Blvd. in Key West. Race day registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. 5K registration price increases by $5 the day before and on race day, so sign up early!
