A large audience was in attendance at the American Legion Post 333 in Key Largo last night for the 241st Birthday Celebration of the United States Marine Corps.
From the Commanding Officer at the Homestead Air Reserve Base to a Commander from the Naval Air Station Key West; and all points in between; the crowd was all inclusive, energetic and enthusiastic.
Representatives from the Marine Corps League, on behalf of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, presented Sheriff Rick Ramsay and State Representative Holly Raschein with the “Distinguished Citizen Medal”.
Their awards recognized them as “extraordinarily dedicated public officials” who have “performed many selfless acts of courage and benevolence, so that the suffering of their constituents might be reduced and eradicated”.
